A. Leila J. Noël

Leila J. Noël co-tried several of the firm's largest business, lender liability and employment cases, and has obtained jury verdicts in excess of $100 million, including a $70.8 million jury verdict for an aircraft manufacturer against General Electric Capital Corporation and a $23.1 million wrongful termination verdict against Johnson Controls, Inc. Besides her trial work, Ms. Noël has successfully completed numerous settlements on behalf of the firm's clients resulting in more than $35 million in loan discounts and cash payments, including $2 million in settlements for medical product liability claims against Sulzer Orthopedics, Inc. Ms. Noël also litigated and negotiated a favorable $54.8 million buyout of a multi-complex real estate subdivision. More.

Troy A. Thielemann

Troy A. Thielemann joined Cappello & Noël as an associate in 1996 and became a partner in 2004. His civil and appellate practice includes complex business litigation, intellectual property, class actions, entertainment law and environmental law. Prior to joining Cappello & Noël, Mr. Thielemann was an associate at an Orange County firm where he represented domestic and international clients in corporate and real estate transactions and in business litigation. Previously, he was a judicial extern for the Honorable John E. Ryan in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. More.

Troy A. Thielemann

Matthew M. Clarke joined Cappello & Noël in 2002 and became a partner in 2007. Experienced in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, Mr. Clarke is a member of the litigation team representing plaintiffs in a variety of complex business litigation cases. Prior to joining Cappello & Noël, Mr. Clarke was a litigation attorney for four years with Hager & Dowling, a Santa Barbara insurance defense firm. Previously, Mr. Clarke was an in-house attorney with Select, Inc., a temporary worker agency. While with Select, he advised the company on a variety of employment law matters. More.

Dugan P. Kelley joined Cappello & Noël in 2005. Mr. Kelley is a member of the litigation team representing plaintiffs, insurance "bad faith", intellectual property, class actions, product liability, and other complex litigation matters. Prior to joining Cappello & Noël, Mr. Kelley was a litigator with Bonne, Bridges, Mueller, O'Keefe & Nichols in Los Angeles defending healthcare professionals and health care institutions involved in malpractice suits. Matthew H. Fisher joined Cappello & Noël in 2007 and represents plaintiffs in complex business litigation. He previously represented cities and counties in federal civil rights, inverse condemnation, excessive force, and dangerous condition suits. He has also defended insurance coverage and bad faith cases brought against insurance carriers, and copyright infringement cases against software and fashion companies. Prior to joining Cappello & Noël, he was an associate at Pollak, Vida & Fisher in Los Angeles. More.

Richard Sutherland joined Cappello & Noël as an associate in 2008 and represents plaintiffs in a diverse range of litigation matters including business litigation, catastrophic injury cases, real estate and employment law. He previously represented plaintiffs in cases involving wrongful termination and workplace harassment, gender and sexual discrimination claims, products liability, premises liability, professional negligence, medical malpractice and catastrophic injury.
